Please accept my application for the position of Retail Assistant with Wardrobe Women, as advertised in The Sun News on April 29th 2010.
I have two years’ experience in fashion retail, and I am dedicated to furthering my career in this field as I live and breathe fashion trends and design. My motivation is seeing the excitement on a customer’s face when I have assisted them to find a style and colour that suits them. I recognise that fashion has much greater effect on confidence and self-image than is sometimes recognised.
It is my aim to prove my exceptional sales ability on the shop floor, while developing my management and supervisory skills to the extent that I am able to move into a 2nd-in-charge role within the next 18 months. I have read on your website about the career development and support you provide your staff and I am confident that this is the ideal environment for me to build my career in fashion retail.
While working in the women’s wear department of Merrick’s Department Store, I assisted customers in finding clothing and accessories to meet their individual tastes and style; trained new staff; resolved disputes between customers and staff; and assisted management with stock merchandising. I was regularly praised for my enthusiasm and ability to apply the customer service principles we were taught during in-house training.
The in-house training gave me a thorough understanding of retail security, loss prevention, OH&S and merchandising. I am well-trained and experienced in retail policies and procedures.
I look forward to discussing this role with you.
