A Glazier installs sheet glass, plate glass, mirrors or other special glass products. They may do this in homes, stores, office buildings or factories.
A Glazier carries out the following tasks:
- measures the window frame
- cuts glass to the specified size
- applies putty to the edges of the frame and places glass
- secures glass with triangular points or metal clips
- flattens the putty with a putty knife to seal out moisture
- uses equipment such as suction cups, glass cutters, putty knives, power cutters and grinders
Entry to this field is usually through a three-year apprenticeship, which combines on-the-job training with classroom instruction.
